From Planning to Placement: Two Days Exploring Real-World Digital Implant Workflows with Prof. Hani Tohme

For two intensive days at Prodea Oman, dentists and implant clinicians came together to explore how digital technologies are reshaping modern implant dentistry — not only in theory, but in real clinical practice.

Led by Prof. Hani Tohme, the course “Digital Implant Approaches in the Real World” focused on bridging the gap between digital planning, guided surgery, prosthetic workflows, and practical chairside execution.

Rather than approaching digital implantology as a purely technical workflow, the program emphasized clinical decision-making, treatment predictability, communication, and workflow continuity from diagnosis to final restoration.

Exploring the Digital Side of Implant Dentistry

Throughout the lectures and discussions, participants explored how digital tools can support more accurate and efficient implant treatments for both partial and full-arch rehabilitations.

Topics covered included:

  • CBCT and intraoral scanning integration
  • Digital treatment planning and virtual patient creation
  • Guided surgery concepts and workflow validation
  • CAD prosthetic design principles
  • Soft tissue management and restorative predictability
  • Communication between clinics and laboratories
  • Managing complications and maintenance in digital workflows

The sessions encouraged clinicians to think beyond isolated technologies and focus instead on building connected workflows that improve patient outcomes and everyday efficiency.

Hands-On Learning with BLX Implant Placement

One of the strongest moments of the course was the hands-on workshop dedicated to BLX implant placement on models, where participants worked directly on guided and freehand protocols while discussing surgical accuracy, primary stability, and prosthetic continuity.

The practical environment created valuable interaction between participants and the speaker, allowing real clinical questions, experiences, and challenges to be openly discussed.

This course reflected exactly that spirit — combining digital innovation, clinical reality, and hands-on interaction in a collaborative learning atmosphere.

We thank Prof. Hani Tohme, all attendees, and our partners for contributing to two inspiring days dedicated to the future of implant dentistry in Oman.
